AMI Meter Installation

Alexander City, AL – Beginning Monday, May 19, 2025, the City of Alexander City will begin installing new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) electric meters as part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of electric service and enhance customer service.

Phase one of the project will include residences in Districts One and Two and is expected to take several weeks to complete. The entire project is expected to take several months.

These new meters will provide real-time data and improved service accuracy for residents. Customers in the affected areas are not required to take any action. The city’s electric department in partnership with a contracted company will complete the process with very little interruption of electric service. Once installation is complete, a notice will be placed on the door of each home to confirm the work has been finished.
